Position Purpose

Walton County Animal Clinic is excited for a new Managing Veterinarian to come lead our incredible team!

We are a full-service, two-doctor hospital that has been treating pets in our community for almost 40 years. We offer the highest quality wellness, diagnostic, and surgical services to our canine and feline companions.

 

We know our industry is stressful, so our team excels at making every day fun. Our doctors are supported by a young, energetic team of veterinary technicians who we utilize for anything and everything. They truly do it all! Two of our techs are also in school to receive their certifications.

 

Our ideal candidate is a creative, driven, and confident. We're looking for someone who is future-minded, and wants to grow in a leadership role with an interest and proficiency for surgery and dentistry.

 

The Managing DVM is responsible for providing medical and non-medical leadership for the practice, managing associate veterinarians and assuring regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine. The Managing DVM is also responsible for creating an environment of teamwork in which quality medicine is delivered.

About the area:  DeFuniak Springs is in the heart of Northwest Florida. The town is made up of beautiful Victorian era architecture that surrounds a 40-acre, spring-fed lake.  WE are a fast growing community with housing and new businesses coming in. During Christmas time, these homes and buildings are decorated with millions of lights that people from all over come to see. It is home to a historic downtown business district with restaurants, shops, and more. Resident can be seen boating, kayaking, and enjoying the beautiful surrounding nature areas / beaches year-round.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range

USD $120,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
