Preston Animal Hospital has been open since the early 1980s, serving Louisville and the surrounding communities with industry leading small animal veterinary care. We offer a full range of wellness, diagnostic, surgical, detal, boarding, and grooming services to clients and pets that have been with us for generations.

Position Purpose

Come join our team! We are seeking another veterinarian to join our amazing staff.

 

Our hours are 7:30 am-7:30 pm Monday & Wednesday, 7:30 am-6:00 pm Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Our ideal candidate is an experienced, creative, driven veterinarian who is looking to join our family and guide a talented and dedicated team to the next level! All candidates need to be able to display strong guidance and leadership as well as proficient surgical skills. We are looking for someone who feels as strongly as we do about providing the highest level of care to our patients and showing empathy, every time, for both the patient and the client. 

 

We currently have 3 exam rooms, separate surgical suite, in house labs, digital radiographs, ultrasound and more.  We are looking for a doctor that wants to come in and make Preston their home and continue to grow and expand the practice.

About the area: Louisville is the largest city in Kentucky and it has a little bit of something for everyone. Every May, its racecourse Churchill Downs hosts the Kentucky Derby, a renowned horse race whose long history can be explored at the Kentucky Derby Museum. If baseball is your thing, it is consistently celebrated here at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, where Major League bats are produced. There seems to be some type of annual festival or event scheduled for every weekend, so you will always have something new to experience or weekend plans! Louisville Metro also has 122 city parks that cover more than 13,000 acres which are great to explore, bike, hike, or walk!

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
