At Dyer County Animal Hospital, located in Dyersburg, TN, our mission is to provide the highest quality veterinary services to every client and patient. Our wellness, diagnostic, and hospice services are small animal focused.

 

Our current doctors have proudly served the pets of Dyersburg, Roellen, Fowlkes, Finley, Lenox, Newbern, and beyond for decades. They bring vast experience and are supported by a wonderful support staff who are equally as experienced and compassionate.

Position Purpose

We are currently a 3-doctor practice, and are very excited about the addition of another veterinarian to our team!

About the area: Established in the 1820s, Dyersburg was a steamboat town with economic growth coming down the North Forked Deer River from the Mississippi River. Today, the town’s history is well preserved in homes and historic buildings along Troy Avenue and lining the square. Residents can enjoy partaking in walks through the Historic Courthouse Square, exploring the Mississippi River Trail pathways and bikeways, and attending community events like the Main Street Farmers Market.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
