For more than 25 years, Heartland Animal Hospital has been providing quality veterinary care for dogs and cats in Faribault and surrounding communities. We are a full-service animal health care facility offering a broad range of medical and surgical services to meet the pet care of our valued clients and their beloved animal companions. 

Position Purpose

Heartland Animal Hospital in Faribault, Minnesota, is excited to add another veterinarian to its team! For more than 25 years, we have provided quality veterinary care for the dogs and cats of Faribault and the surrounding communities. We are a full-service care facility offering a broad range of medical/surgical services.

In addition to offering routine vaccines, spays/neuters, and preventative care, we provide orthopedic procedures, diagnostic ultrasound, advanced dental care, critical care, and more! Our practice would be a fantastic opportunity for DVMs of all interests to practice and develop a wide array of skills. We are new graduate-friendly and would be willing to provide individualized mentorship to any new DVMs!

We are just 25 minutes south of the Twin Cities and enjoy the advantages of being near a major metro center. However, Faribault still provides the livability and rich atmosphere of a small town.   • Schedule: We offer a fixed 4-day work week and 1 Saturday a month with no on-call.
  • Compensation: Let’s talk! Lay out your expectations upfront. We consider each candidate individually, taking into account their skills and experience, to offer compensation that allows you to live comfortably.
  • PTO-3 weeks vacation/sick days that we don’t make impossible to use!
  • Management: Maintain an open line of communication with your leadership team. You will be heard and taken seriously!

  • Mentorship: We offer a 6-month+ hybrid program customized to new grads based on their competencies and clinical and non-clinical development needs. An onsite dedicated mentor is with you every step of the way!
  • Helping Hands: Have an adequate number of skilled support staff by your side, with a 1:2 doctor-to-tech/assistant ratio. Focus on your patients, and let your techs do what they do best!

  • We’ve got you covered: Liability coverage, State Licensure dues, DEA Registration, AVMA and state VMA memberships, and any other associated memberships will also be paid for should they become due during employment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
