At Family Pet Care, we have been serving the North Alabama area since August 2001! Between our doctors, we offer over 60 years of clinical veterinary experience. Our practice is dedicated to discovering the root of your pet’s health concerns. We aim to provide top-quality friendly customer service backed by exceptional pet care. We treat your pet like family!

Position Purpose

Family Pet Care is looking to add another veterinarian to our team! We currently have two full-time doctors that are assisted by a loyal and collaborative support staff. We love our clients as they are always friendly and receptive to our advice.  Our services consist of standard preventative care, diagnostics, treatment, surgery, as well as reproductive services.

 

We welcome veterinarians of all experience levels and new graduates. Our current DVMs are passionate about teaching and would love to provide mentorship wherever needed. We always believe we have the ability to learn from you as well!

 

Our ideal candidate is passionate about small animal care and has an interest in taking on some of our surgical workload.

 

 

About the area: Toney, AL is located less than a half hour north of Huntsville. The area became a hub for science and research when the Marshall Space Flight Center was established during the space race. The US Space and Rocket Center still serves as one of the biggest nearby attractions. For outdoor enthusiasts, we have access to many opportunities like hiking/biking in Monte Sano State Park or boating on the Tennessee River. You can also access the social scene in downtown Huntsville where you can always find great live music or unique restaurants and lounges.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
