Aside from industry leading wellness care, we have experienced all types of conditions and treatments throughout our many years. Additional equipment/services we regularly utilize are full in-house laboratory, ultrasound, digital radiology, surgical laser, therapy laser, acupuncture, and more.

Our team is led by experienced DVMs (Drs. Welter, Gaeth, and Gay), supported by a skilled crew of veterinary technicians and administrative staff—currently including three full-time veterinarians and three licensed vet technicians. We pride ourselves on being thoughtful, high-touch, client-educating, family-oriented practitioners.


Position Summary

We are seeking a Full-Time Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) to join our collaborative veterinary team at Animal Clinic Inc. in Iowa City. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on clinical experience and a passion for providing exceptional care to companion animals.


Experience & Qualifications

  • Must hold an active DVM license in good standing.

  • Experience required—candidates with 2+ years of clinical practice are preferred.

  • Strong diagnostic, surgical, and therapeutic skills across a variety of small animal medical conditions.

  • Excellent communication skills and a client-education mindset.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an experienced team.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
