We are conveniently located on the East side of Harper Avenue between Allard Ave and Eight Mile Rd at 20102 Harper Avenue in Harper Woods, Michigan.

Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital has been AAHA accredited for over 70 years, serving the east Detroit area with compassionate, high-quality veterinary care. We’re a multi-doctor hospital with a loyal, compliant client base and a team that genuinely enjoys working together. Many of our staff members have been here for 10–20+ years, which says everything about our culture.

We’re seeking a full-time veterinarian with a strong interest in surgery who wants to practice excellent medicine in a positive, well-supported environment.

Clinical Highlights

  • 10 exam rooms, 2-table OR, 4 wet tables

  • Diverse caseload with opportunity for orthopedic and soft tissue surgery

  • DVMs currently performing cruciate repairs and expanding into TPLO training

  • Acupuncture and therapy laser services

  • Digital full-body and dental x-rays, ultrasound (cardio expansion in progress)

  • ~20–22 appointments per day; 15-minute standard

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
