Destrehan Animal Hospital was established in 1989 by Dr. Jack A Moreau. The practice was opened up in the small town of Destrehan, La. It consists of care for small animals such as dogs and cats with occasional rabbits and guinea pigs. Today having served 32 years of animal care, the practice staff has grown tremendously.

 

Destrehan Animal Hospital performs many services. These include: boarding, bathing, dental cleaning, multiple types of surgery procedures, appointments for annuals and sick pets, pet travel certificates, microchipping, nail trims, in-house urine and bloodwork, x rays, etc. We do our best to provide our clients with the best services. If we can’t fulfill services, we will refer to the specialist needed if it’s beyond our reach.

Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 annually

Destrehan Animal Hospital is hiring a compassionate, motivated Associate Veterinarian to join a growing, community-focused practice near New Orleans.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
