Tellico Plains Clinic is a part of Monroe County Animal Hospital, a full-service veterinary hospital in Monroe County and Tellico Plains, Tennessee. We treat both large and small animals. Our veterinarians’ goal is to provide local pet owners with the most beneficial animal health care possible.

Position Purpose

Our family-feel practice is ready to welcome an associate veterinarian to the team! Whether your passion is small or mixed animal medicine, our well-trained support staff is ready to assist you. Our diverse client base will be receptive to your treatment plans because they want the best care for their pets. And we have a large animal truck for your use on farm calls!

About the area: Tellico Plains, TN, is best known as a scenic mountain town and the western gateway to the Cherohala Skyway, a 43-mile national scenic byway. It is famous for its stunning outdoor recreation, including the 90-foot Bald River Falls, trout fishing in the Tellico River, hiking in the Cherokee National Forest, and as a popular, curvy destination for motorcyclists.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range

USD $110,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /Yr.
